History

The Mississippi Goodwill Festival Inc. has helped seniors with utility bills and medicine prescriptions, people who have lost homes due to fire, contributed to kids with kidney and liver transplants, and the list goes on.

History of Organization

In September 1988, "Ace" Alious McBride and Clyde Perteet  sponsored a gospel concert at the Attala Coliseum in Kosciusko, Mississippi to raise funds to help community churches. It was a success and we were inspired and wanted to provide other services and programs to reach out to more people. So we shared the idea with other community leaders.  In several of the many meetings held... it was discovered that many people were losing their homes and possessions by fire. Therefore, in 1989 Clyde Perteet and "Ace" Alious McBride, along with other community leaders who started out helping churches, formed the Mississippi Goodwill Festival, Incorporated to administer help to people who lose their homes by fire.  In 1992 the organization served a greater need in the community. We began to help feed the hungry, find homes for the  homeless, provide services to the senior citizens and poor. Such resources are... paying heating or cooling bills, meals on wheels, elderly home visitation etc. In March 1994, M.G.F Inc. grew to help people of all races in Attala, Holmes, and Hinds counties and our goals are to help people all over the state and beyond who are facing catastrophic situations or  financial hardships.
